It’s Cheaper

In accordance with the Cost of Living Index, Arkansas is mind-numbingly cheaper than most areas in New Jersey. Due to a lower population, the median home cost is a 107% difference, and one’s average salary would jump by thirty-thousand dollars! Now, this does vary depending on job availability, but the results are still staggering. A move to Arkansas could be a huge benefit if the goal is to pump your savings account.

The Scenery is Superb

Prop your feet up and take one of the wonderful “float trips” through some of Arkansas’s lovely rivers. Just crack open a cold beverage and soak in the amazing sights, sounds, and smells these trips have to offer! The Pig Trail can take you through the world-famous Ozarks and could be a peaceful drive for the whole family. The cities in New Jersey are great, but Arkansas definitely provides the casual hiker with a fulfilling atmosphere. If the backcountry is something that you’d enjoy, there are very few places that can match the majesty of this state’s woodland territories! There are a few examples that could possibly stand out above the rest.

The Garvan Woodland Gardens, an incredible botanical scene in Hot Springs National Park, is positive to leave you speechless. With over 200 acres of flowing streams and dense forest, it makes the ideal place to propose, hike, stroll, or walk your favorite furry friend! In December, Arkansas holds a stunning light display, and it could be an awesome excuse to take out the whole family. Another location would be Mount Magazine, a State Park with a challenging climb and a cozy collection of cottages. There are very few places that match such a getaway! It’s fair to say that Arkansas is a hotspot for nature-lovers everywhere.

The Culture

If one is a football fan, they’ll be in good company in the state of Arkansas. These people love their Razorbacks and do not shy away from a tailgate celebration! The passion is truly contagious for any sports fan. Take a change and yell out your favorite pig call, and most people will call back in no time! That brings the discussion to the next point: the people of Arkansas love their pigs. There are festivals held for the boar, and hog trails are everywhere. Whether it be eating them or celebrating them, pork is what’s for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (technically they call lunch “dinner” and dinner “supper” but you can catch on.

There are also a lot of indoor locations if one needs more variety. Arkansas is home to a plethora of cultural wellsprings that take place inside. The Crescent Hotel and Spa, within the borders of Eureka Springs, is a 19th-century historical landmark inspired by the Victorian age. The Thorncrown Chapel gives you the best of both worlds! You can bask in the state’s natural wonders and breathtaking architecture at the same time. For those who don’t know, Arkansas is home to the Walmart family, and they have made a few contributions of their own. For example, the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art is home to countless masterpieces. On top of that, the visit is completely free! The site is supported by Walmart, so enjoy the cost-free excursion!

The Food

The culinary arts are greatly appreciated in Arkansas. Being a fan of fried food, this state truly has it all. Arkansas does not hold back on the meat, and the portions are absolutely incredible. The restaurants are praised for the massive fried pork tenderloins, which often take up for space than the bread! In the state of Arkansas, you will never go hungry after the move, but you may want to start looking for a trainer. As it was stated earlier, they love the pig, and the feasts are nothing less than abundant. They’re also pretty famous for their chocolate gravy. Mixed with bacon bits, or used as a topping for biscuits and pastries, it’s a dish sure to leave you enamored with the local cuisine.

Some Things to Keep in Mind

  • Much like Nevada, the citizens of Arkansas favor the correct pronunciation of their home state. It is important to practice saying “SAW” and not “SAS”, or you could possibly offend those who have been born and raised in the territory.
  • When driving, watch out for all of the wildlife! Deer are everywhere in Arkansas, and accidents do occur. It would be best to proceed with caution when taking a ride throughout the backcountry.
  • Directions are provided in a different way. Imagine that you and your family are trying to take a scenic drive, and want to know how far you are from a rest stop. You will most likely be provided with the time it will take to get there, rather than the number of miles you will have to drive to reach your destination.
  • The open carry policy can seem dangerous to outsiders. Just know that a distant gunshot does not indicate a potential threat, as firearms are recreationally used over there.
